UMASS LOWELL

(This show was the same night of the Skidmore show, so Boulger is doing the blogging.)

Dan Levy will not be writing this blog. So there will not be pictures video or good spelling. Good times were had. The show included Dan Boulger (me), Nikki Glazer, Rory Albanese, and Kyle Grooms. The show was really great. I was hosting which is a bit of a train wreck because the host is supposed to be nice and I’m not. The crowd was a little tight of the front of the show but they were good by end of my set. I’d say 70 percent of my jokes worked which is phenomenal if you’re Shaq shooting free throws but a little disappointing for comedy. After that I brought up Nikki. She killed as she has on all the shows I’ve done with here on this tour. Then I brought up Rory Albanese I heard laughs during his set I didn’t really get to watch him though. Which sucks because he’s a higher up on the Daily Show and everyone I’ve seen from that show do stand up has been fucking awesome (Lewis Black, John Oliver, ECT.) The reason I didn’t get to see his set was because I was talking to Nikki about the trivia contest that is in the middle of the show. Basically on all the shows after the second act we give away Puma gear because they were nice enough to sponsor the tour. But at most of the shows last week nobody was getting the correct answers so Nikki and I decided to make our own questions. So I brought Nikki back on stage for the trivia and we came up with our own questions. It was fun because we mostly ended up fucking with the students. The questions were supposed to be “college based” but instead I asked one kid what his solution for “decreasing the dependency on foreign oil is.” He actually had a pretty articulate answer, something about hybrids, but in the middle of him making his point Nikki yelled “wrong!!!” and the solution to our oil problems is actually to invade countries under false pretences and steal there oil. That kid needed to read more Ann Colter so he can be a real American. After the Trivia I brought up the headliner Kyle Grooms who also killed. He had a really laid back style and great writing. The cool thing about this tour has been getting to see acts I normally wouldn’t. There are some pretty funny people out there.
After the show we went back to Boston which is my home town and went to a few bars. It’s been the only show in Boston so far. It’s a great city but it was probably more fun for me in Austin and Washington. I’m kind of board with drinking in Boston because I’ve drank at all these bars and seen everything there. But when I’m on the road I feel more cultured when I’m drinking. I’m like “oh man Austin Texas they have Yager here too.” But none the less, had a blast at the show and after show shit and I’m looking forward to others.
